This week we received disturbing news concerning an icon of the Donner Summit area. The Truckee Donner Land Trust  (TDLT) revealed their plan for the future of Van Norden Lake. The future of the lake is that it has no future. TDLT wants to lower the existing dam by 5 ft which effectively drains the 70 acres of lake and the adjoining 70 acres of alpine wetlands to less than a 2 acre puddle.
